The Opportunity

Demonstrating a profound commitment to the mission and recognizing the significance of organizational development, the Executive Director of The Friendship Center sought a reliable resource and partner. The goal was to collaborate with the entire nonprofit staff to enhance and build the desired functions of the business. Two Suns was brought on board to facilitate this vision and develop a new strategic plan and gather data from employees for feedback. The Friendship Center also requested a review of operations and other infrastructure needs to further their mission. This foundation building was needed to prepare the organization for the anticipated growth and increasing needs of the community.

The Outcome

Two Suns developed an inclusive and effective plan to provide an outcomes-based three-year strategic plan for The Friendship Center. Two Suns enhanced this work by developing a process for reporting, tracking tasks, leads, and timelines of the strategic plan. With facilitated support and project management from Two Suns, a process map was also created to facilitate the development of an operations manual. This manual includes all procedures, ensuring consistency and support for training purposes.

Thanks to the strong relationship cultivated with Two Suns, the Friendship Center extended its engagement with support services beyond the initial phase of organizational development. This ongoing relationship with Two Suns encompasses a range of support services, including the development of a survey to assess gaps and strengths in services and shelter, evaluations of accounting and other software systems, implementation of new software support, project management, establishment of a strategic plan process, committee development for implementation, tracking of the strategic plan, market research for crisis line management and human resources services support. These services extend to the development and implementation of a performance management process for all employees, including the Executive Director. The Friendship Center’s long-term partnership with Two Suns helps them remain supported and well-equipped to meet the growing needs of its community.

“Two Sun's has been such an asset to our organization. We had several identified needs at our agency, but had struggled to make progress on those goals. In only a few short weeks Ashley was able to help us make significant progress on our goals and on one particular task that had started to feel impossible. Her organization and attention to detail is unparalleled, as is her support and partnership. ”
